Job description
Buffalo Crossings ALF is currently interviewing for a part-time driver to become part of our transportation team! This individual will be responsible for providing non-emergency transportation of residents and mobility- impaired individuals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
- Checks daily transportation schedule, teams with second driver and assigns/adjusts route accordingly.
- Walks around bus and company cars to observe any defects, and checks operating system—brakes, horn, windshield wipers, lights, first-aid kits, emergency flashers, and door-opening devices before starting trips. Checks working condition of cellular phone.
- Picks up residents at Buffalo Crossings or other pre-designated locations. Provides whatever assistance is required for boarding of residents. Makes sure wheelchair and passenger are properly secured before starting bus or car.
- Depending on route, may pick up several residents for a common or close destinations.
- Upon arrival at destination, assists residents in leaving van and reaching proper location or treatment areas. Checks van to make sure that no personal items have been left behind.
- Depending on the day’s schedule, the driver decides whether more pickups should be made before beginning to return residents to their homes.
- After all return trips are complete, returns bus or car to parking lot, makes a final inspection, locks vehicle, and returns keys.
- Keeps proper record of each trip, including travel times and mileage.
- Provides first-aid or CPR if required during resident transport. Immediately notifies emergency personnel and supervisor if skilled assistance is required.
- Reports traffic accidents immediately to supervisor, requesting police or ambulance service as needed. Assists injured persons from first-aid kit until these services arrive. Completes company accident report.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.
No prior experience or training required.
Prior transportation experience or experience in senior living strongly preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS.
Valid, current state driver’s license
Current CPR and Basic First-Aid certifications strongly preferred.
Buffalo Crossings, ALF is a drug-free workplace.
Level II AHCA Background Screening will be required.
