essential functions

1. Ability to plan and implement Reality Orientation on a one-to-one basis.

2. Ability to plan and implement evening and weekend functions as necessary.

3. Ability to take part in in-service education and attend all in-service sessions relating to the Activity Program.

4. Ability to plan, schedule and implement room visits and in-room activities for residents unable to leave their rooms.

5. Ability to maintain an activity attendance record for each resident.

6. Ability to maintain an adequate supply of materials to implement activity programs.

7. Ability to observe infection control procedures related to the Activity Program.

8. Ability to be responsible for the safety of residents under his/her supervision.

9. Ability to follow Resident’s Rights policies at all times.

10. Ability to accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.

11. Ability to assume accountability for data contained in the employees’ handbook.

12. Ability to observe all facility safety policies and procedures.

13. Ability to perform other related duties as directed by Administrator and/or Activity Director.

14. Ability to handle emergency situations in a calm, effective manner.

15. Ability to follow fire and disaster procedures during a drill and actual occurrence.

Marginal functions

1. Ability to plan, schedule and implement a program of individual and group activities based on residents’ needs.

2. Ability to recruit, schedule and supervise volunteers.

3. Ability to organize and schedule community events related to residents’ interests.

4. Pushing residents to and from activities and loading the bus

5. Pivoting and transferring residents from wheelchair to the bus seat and back

Physical and environmental requirements

The physical activities of this position involve:

· Balancing Climbing

· Crouching Fingering

· Grasping Kneeling

· Pulling Pushing

· Reaching Repetitive movement

· Standing Stooping

Lifting (moving objects from a lower to higher position or moving object along a horizontal level but from position to position.

An individual in this position will be required to carry or lift weights in this rage:

Up to 50 pounds

The sensory and communicative activities essential to the performance of this position include:

· Feeling: Perceiving through physical contact, especially with the fingertips.

· Hearing: The power to perceive sound with no less that a 40 decibel loss at 500 Hz and 2000 Hz with or without correction. Ability to make fine discrimination in sound.

· Seeing

· Speaking

An individual in this position will be exposed to:

· Inside and outside environmental conditions.

· Bloodborne pathogens.

· Chemical hazards

· Respiratory hazards
