About the Job

The Day Program Coordinator assumes overall responsibility for the leadership, direction, vision, and daily supervision of the Residential Day Program at two sites which is designed to serve young adults through geriatric clients with chronic mental illness. Ensures implementation of responsible clinical and management practice reflecting with Agency mission and resulting in high quality service.

Responsibilities

· Oversees operations/implementation of the Residential Day Programs at Ralph Street and Broadway facilities.

· Collaborates with the Program Directors, and OTR/L consultants in the overall management of the Residential Day Programs to promote values, attitudes, and behavior that support consumers in their rehabilitation process.

· Works with the Program Directors in developing strategies for the carryover of therapeutic goals throughout all shifts.

· Responsible for the ongoing development of rehabilitation day programming for consumers in Residential Day Program.

· Directs program in the implementation of therapeutic groups and activities within the day program.

· Monitors progress of consumers in the Day Programs for inclusion in Program Specific Treatment Plans.

· Acts as liaison to community-based programming. Generates referrals to agencies for consumer participation in recreational, vocational, and educational programs as needed.

· Maintains supplies and equipment to support the program(s).

· Ensures client interventions and supports are delivered in a way that incorporates consistency, flexibility, and responsiveness by client need.

· Provides feedback to program supervisor(s) of all day program functions to include client concerns.

Qualifications

· Ability to lead, motivate, train, and manage day program.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Demonstrated ability to organize, budget, and speak in public.

· Ability to exercise independent judgment.

· Knowledge of the behavioral aspects of mental illnesses.

· Experience obtaining information about and interpreting information in terms of mental illness.

· Ability to establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships.

· Knowledge of prescribed medication used in programs and effects.

· Ability to monitor self-medication and/or dispense medication, if indicated.

· Knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention principles and practices.

· State driver’s license and record in good standing.
