Madison Veterinary Hospital has been a pillar of veterinary medicine in the metro Detroit area for more than 50 years. We are a small animal, single location, five doctor practice, providing many services such as wellness examinations, immunizations, surgery, dentistry, digital radiography, in house laboratory services, endoscopy and ultrasound.

Twice a month we hold mandatory progressive transformation meetings for our entire staff. We offer an environment that encourages professional and personal growth.

What we are looking for:

We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic pet advocate to join our team!

We are currently hiring for both Part-Time and Full-time positions in our Ward department. With a work week ranging from 24-28 hours for part-time and full-time ranging from 32-40 hours. The shifts would include a variety of days, nights, weekends and holidays.

The purpose of this position is to provide exceptional care to patients and aide in the control of infectious diseases by adhering to strenuous disinfecting protocols. We are a fast paced hospital looking for people that have the ability to prioritize and manage their time effectively.

The duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Practicing fear free restraint primarily on canine and feline patients with a variety of pocket pets
  • Assisting Licensed Veterinary Technicians with radiographs
  • Animal husbandry (maintaining cages, walking patients, feeding)
  • Admitting & Discharging patients
  • Client Communication and Education
  • Maintaining accurate and up to date patient medical records
  • Performing nail trims, baths, parasite screenings, cleaning ears, and expressing anal sacs
  • Assisting with humane euthanasia
  • Involvement with several cleaning and stocking duties.

Essential Skills and Requirements:

  • Lifting/Carrying animals up to 40 pounds unassisted
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to use down-time efficiently
  • Skilled with multi-tasking
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Experience in the veterinary field is preferred, but not required.
