This position will review structural plans and then compile a material list for multiple areas of the structure. Home ownership is the American Dream, and this position is directly involved in helping to make it happen! As house plans come into FBS, the Estimator will review structural plans & blue prints, create/compile material lists for building projects, enter material lists into our software system and assist in providing engineered wood structural data (sizing beams, floor systems, etc.)
Some duties include:
- Review structural plans and read blue prints
- Create and compile material lists for building projects
- Enter material lists into software system(s)
- Assist in providing engineered wood structural data (sizing beams, floor systems, etc.)
- Interact with salesman, account coordinators, and contractors in an attentive and cordial manner

- An understanding of the components associated with the structure of a home or building
- Ability to look at a 2-dimentional drawing and yet see the 3-dimentional structure
- Capable of managing your own time, in order to complete tasks promptly and as accurately as possible
- Recognize problems and assist in suggesting and executing solutions
- Have well developed verbal and written skills, ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to prioritize tasks, be patient with distractions and manage time efficiently
- Willing to be versatile, understand and follow directions
- Possess general mathematical skills
Strongly Preferred:
- Basic understanding of blue prints
- Past involvement in the building industry
- Design software experience (CAD, etc.)
