As a member of the Operations team the role demonstrates superior technical competency in design, develop and modify code to deliver Azure Core Services with automation and infrastructure as code. Translate design decisions, architecture designs to code for continuous deployment and repeatability.

Leverage the latest DevOps and Cloud automation tools such as Azure Resource Manager templates, Bicep and Azure Powershell, Terraform, Ansible, Salt stack, Python, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Actions to deploy cloud solutions. Leads team’s coding practices, release management. Collaborate with other passionate individuals on automation strategy and best practices. Create and document low-level designs, as built and standards on SharePoint/Teams. Collaborate with Solution architecture, BA’s, platform engineering and product teams for delivering Infrastructure as code. Work within a project

management/agile scrum teams in a leading role as part of a wider team. Utilizes Agile and DevOps Processes and Principles, Crafts CI/CD pipelines; converting builds to use native Azure build and release pipelines. The senior systems engineer will have detailed knowledge of industry standard practices and will have a thorough understanding of networking concepts.

This role is a key position within the IT department and will be called upon to resolve the highest-level technical issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Linux and Windows systems implementation
  • Full IT system lifecycle administration from installation to decommissioning of systems in both physical data center and cloud
  • Perform end to end management of on-premise and cloud based Linux and Windows systems
  • Responsible for ensuring uptime of critical business systems and infrastructure through monitoring and timely remediation of critical infrastructure issues
  • Measurement, optimization, and tuning of system performance and ensuring that systems will run reliably and are highly available in a 24/7 production environment
  • Install, harden and patch Linux/Windows operating systems
  • Develop automation with Ansible, bash, python, or related technologies
  • Serve on a rotating 24/7 on-call support team
  • Understanding of virtual desktop infrastructure such as Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Familiarity with hardware platforms and hyperconverged infrastructure, including HPE Synergy * Embrace Infrastructure-as-Code
  • Support incident management resolution and root cause analysis
  • Assist in defining and designing system specifications and procedures
  • Ensures alignment to all regulatory compliance processes and requirements
  • Support security audits, accreditation, and certification processes
  • Partner with GRC teams to lead deployment of secure and compliant systems and services on-prem and in the cloud
  • Collaborate with application teams to understand performance and capacity requirements of solutions and services
  • Create procedure documentation and develop SOPs and run books
  • Update existing documentation and identify and draft new documentation where appropriate
  • Stay up to date on best practices involving Linux and Windows based systems and recommend changes to keep systems and infrastructure secure and robust
  • Engineering expertise with DevSecOps practices like Infrastructure as code, End to end cloud resource lifecycle (CI/CD), service integration experience and Development of infrastructure templates (ARM, Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Deployment Manager)
  • Ability to work in an Extreme Programming environment and work in a paired programming/engineering model
  • Hands on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Microsoft ActiveX Data Object (ADO), PowerBI Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Python, Azure CLI (AZCLI), GitHub
  • Technical understanding of Windows/Linux/VMware/Hyper-V/AKS, SQL and N0-SQL DB’s, IaaS, PaaS, FaaS, Data, BCDR, Security, Management, Storage, Networking, Monitoring, Identity and Connectivity
  • DevOps tool chain deployment, establish CI/CD tools, code repository, code scanning, artifact repo, compliance scanning, packaging, deployment, and configuration management
  • Able to facilitate diverse teams, multi-task, and work under pressure to meet aggressive schedule targets
  • Azure Virtual Network, VWAN, Express route, Load Balancer, Traffic Manager, CDN, Azure DNS, routing & routing protocols like BGP, firewall concepts
  • Azure AD, PIM, Conditional Access, MFA, Azure AD Connect, Microsoft Defender and key vault
  • Azure Governance, Security, Monitoring, Workbooks, Policies, Compliance, and Cost Awareness
  • Azure Virtual Machines, Containers and/or Kubernetes and/or OpenShift (infrastructure perspective)
  • Azure Storage Account, Disk, Snapshot, Backup, Site Recovery, file sync, Data Lake, HDInsights, Databricks, Data factory
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Lead in the administration and maintenance of the remote monitoring and management system: update agent scripts, respond to alerts, monitor dashboard, and periodic system review
  • Ensure system patching occurs on a recurring basis, analyzing available software and system patching and scheduling timely implementation of patches using automated tools such as SolarWinds patch management and SCCM and WSUS.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support
  • Work with Business Partners and Business Analysts to install upgrades and patches for business applications including modifications to SQL databases
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Maintain current or create new documentation on all elements of the infrastructure
  • Mentor junior members of the Operations team and the ServiceDesk technicians

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $67.00 - $75.00 per hour
