Job description
This position manages and coordinates all logistical functions, including receiving, handling, and shipping. The responsibilities for this position include for inventory control, storage and handling, shipping and delivery management, transportation, and quality control. In addition, this position effectively processes relevant written and verbal communication to ensure that all tasks are completed effectively and always executes the goals and objectives set by the Operations Manager to ensure a working environment conducive to team-work and individual motivation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Recommends hiring, disciplining, firing, evaluating, and training actions for staff to ensure smooth operation of department
- Completes paperwork for newly hired employees to ensure accurate payroll information and compliance
- Enters and tracks payroll information, including work hours, attendance, and benefit time to ensure accurate payments to employees
- Determines safety topics, presents safety talks, and documents attendance to continually reinforce safety procedures
- Enters relevant data into Warehouse Management System
- Controls inventory
- Creates list of inventory to be picked; forwards to Forklift Operators
- Maintains a quality control log, entering required information
- Assists and fills in for fork-lift operators as necessary
- Checks drivers into the facility, documenting loading numbers
- Serves as backup point of contact for IT issues
- Oversees completion of weekly cleaning tasks
- Hosts visitors
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
- Associate Degree in Business, Logistics, Materials Management or combination of education and experience
- A minimum of two years experience supervising warehouse workers or comparable positions
- A minimum of one years experience training and promoting safety and fork lift training
- One to two years experience driving a fork lift, loading and unloading semi-trailers
Knowledge
- Utilize and teach principles of logistics, warehouse, and materials management
- Use intermediate level of Excel to create spreadsheets that provide, synthesize, and analyze information for use in the position, upper management, budgeting, and planning
- Use Word to prepare reports, compose emails, memos, and performance evaluations
- Use PowerPoint to prepare and present safety training and other informational content

- Organize work schedules, assignments, and projects
- Provide leadership to subordinates to ensure quality and quantity of throughput
- Communicate verbally and in writing with staff, supervisors, upper management, customers, and vendors
- Effectively solve routine problems using good judgment periodically without established protocols or procedures
- Discern priorities and multi-task to ensure the smooth operation of the warehouse
- Adapt to changing priorities and last minute adjustments
- Manage time to complete all assigned tasks according to designated schedules, including submitting reports, approving employee work time, completing evaluations, etc.
- Handle a large volume and variety of work
