Position Function
Recreation Services is a unit within Business and Auxiliary Services which is within the Division of Business Affairs. Recreation Services is funded by the University General Fund and Student Fees. Recreation Services staff includes seven professionals and approximately 150 student employees who assist in facility and business operations as well as programmatic opportunities. Recreation Services is classified as an essential service for campus based upon the following facilities: The Student Recreation and Wellness Center consists of a three level fitness center, a five court gymnasium, a multi-purpose gymnasium, a climbing wall, a rental center, an indoor turf building, five racquetball courts, six multi-purpose studios, a functional fitness gym, a field sports building, locker rooms, and Lewellen Pool. Other facilities include Ball Gymnasium, which consists of an indoor track, a fitness room, a pool, locker rooms and multipurpose rooms. Outdoor Facilities and fields consist of Lucina Tennis Courts, Cardinal Creek Tennis Facility, Anthony Fields and Heath Farm Fields. Programmatic opportunities include fitness class programs, personal training, intramural sports, club sports, an outdoor trip program, a variety of events, and swim lessons. Recreation Services facilities and programs service a variety of patrons such as Ball State University students, faculty, staff, alumni, and dependents and spouses, Burris students, Indiana Academy students, as well as Muncie community.
This position specifically is responsible for the daily operations of the Outdoor Pursuits Rental Center (OP); Provide superior customer service to all patrons; Maintain a positive and welcoming environment to any guest that visits OP; Reserve, check-out, check-in, repair, clean and inspect rental equipment; Handle transactions of various types of payment and execute rental contracts; Promote all aspects of the Outdoor Pursuits program; Maintain accurate records in computer and paper files; Complete additional tasks assigned by the Coordinator of OP.
Minimum Education
High School Diploma
Minimum Experience
Must have some retail/customer service experience.
Authorization to work in the US
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
