We have positions available at our Road to Success Academy location.

Signing Bonus $3,000 High School Teachers and Long Term Substitute Teachers

The Classroom Teacher is our students’ academic guide, helping each student build a foundation for learning based on our Three Pillars: Onboard Strength, Academic Strength, and Career Readiness Strength. The majority of our students need to recover credit or are at risk of dropping out, so our Teacher’s first responsibility is to build strong relationships and encourage daily attendance through engaging instruction. In addition to the subject matter, our Teachers help students develop self- motivation around goals of graduation and career readiness.

Duties and responsibilities Primary responsibilities include:

Onboard Strength:

  • Encourage daily attendance through engaging instruction and student/family communication.
  • Teach concepts that develop student motivation and self-efficacy.
  • Participate in student retention and engagement practices with Principal and colleagues.

Academic Strength:

  • Employ data to personalize instruction and assessment to student needs, helping students fill gaps and see their own growth.
  • Develop lesson plans from the approved curriculum using a variety of techniques and visual aids, creative projects, and technology to engage students in their learning.

Career Readiness Strength:

  • Align lesson plans to CBI standards using real-life work scenarios for application.
  • Once eligible, obtain endorsement for Career-Based Intervention (CBI) through Network provided training opportunities.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Use approved curriculum and document all syllabi, lesson plans, and supplemental content on School provided accounts and platforms Google Classroom, Curriculum Works, Apex, and other platforms and content.
  • Participate in curriculum and instructional development projects in collaboration with fellow faculty onsite and at our other locations.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities, including required professional building teams
  • Keep accurate records using school approved tools and processes for each student such as grade books and progress reports, lesson plans, attendance records, and behavior/discipline records
  • Perform advising responsibilities to assigned student case load(s)
  • Participate in IEP, RtI, and co-teaching activities as assigned
  • Maintain a positive school environment through effective conflict resolution, collaboration, positive reinforcement, and educational leadership modeling
  • Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment, and discipline in an orderly fashion conducive to good learning
  • Motivate students to achieve their full attendance, academic, and behavioral goals, as well as other goals identified
  • Establish and maintain a positive rapport with students, parents, staff, school administration, and other stakeholders
  • Maintain effective communication on an ongoing basis with students, parents, staff, school administration, and other stakeholders
  • Prepare and administer all standardized tests as directed
  • Participate in school and extra-curricular activities as directed by the Principal
  • Perform student home visits as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Valid state teaching license in appropriate area required
  • Satisfactory completion of federal and state required criminal history check
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Google Docs, MS Office Suite, e-mail, and internet applications
  • One (1) year of work or volunteer experience in a field outside of education preferred

  • Maintain confidentiality concerning all student information and any professional matters
  • Utilizes effective time management and exhibits punctuality on the job daily
  • Strong content knowledge in one or more content areas
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exhibits a passion for teaching and working with youth and young adults
  • Ability to work in a diverse educational community setting
  • Strong ability to gather, analyze, and interpret student data to make sound educational decisions
  • Exhibit flexibility regarding decision-making, daily challenges, and job duties
  • Pursues ongoing personal and professional growth
  • Interest in and willingness to align lessons to career program /CTE standards

Working conditions

  • Interaction with students, staff, and parents/guardians
  • Interaction with faculty colleagues at other school locations through on- and off-site workgroups, training, and other professional development and through web conferences.
  • Ability to travel as needed

Physical requirements

  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Standing for extended periods of time, sitting occasionally
  • Ability to move around the building
  • Dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer and other technology related components

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $36,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
