We have an exciting opportunity for our next Superintendent of Grounds at America First Field. This full time, at-will, position will report to the Director of Fields and Grounds. In this role you will undertake the maintenance of American First Field (AFF), America First Field II (AFF2), common grounds maintenance, and related work as required. This individual will conduct maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment used in the field of Turfgrass Management. This position will focus on maintaining AFF, the main stadium field for Real Salt Lake, and AFF2 used as a training field for RSL, camps, and corporate events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Manages and trains a staff of two full time employees and one part time employee in all aspects of athletic field, facility grounds and equipment maintenance.
• Performs field maintenance activities including but not limited to sod cutting and installation, irrigation management, mowing, trimming and use of blowers and fertilizing.
• Creates field markings and logo painting for soccer, football, rugby and lacrosse.
• Operates and maintains power equipment such as reel and rotary mowers, tractors, top dressers, aerators, utility vehicles, backpack blowers and trimmers.
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Working knowledge of the maintenance of sports fields; the seeding, sodding and maintenance practices for sports field turfgrass; the planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs and trees; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners, herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation system, including wells, pumps and automatic controls.

• High level of understanding of the sport's governing bodies’ requirements for field layouts and markings.

• Possession of a valid driver's license and excellent driving record

• Ability to work irregular hours, nights, weekends, and holidays to accommodate the teams' schedules.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Preference will be given to individuals with a degree in Turf Management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 100 pounds or exerting heavy force, in a wide disparity or environmental conditions. The job involves standing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, etc.
