JOB SUMMARY
This position performs manual and routine clerical duties in the receipt, storage and issuance of materials, supplies, and equipment in the City’s central warehouse; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Chief Storekeeper.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects and some heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
- Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. The amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.
- Climbing: Ascending or descending terrain, ladders, stairs, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
- Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.
- Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
- Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.
- Vocal Communication: Required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
- Hearing: Required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
- Visual Acuity: Required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise, and atmospheric conditions.
- Assists with the operation of the central warehouse, warehouse security, and recordkeeping.
- Receives, processes, distributes, and accounts for materials and equipment.
- Receives shipments, unpacks, and stores items.
- Restocks and organizes bins and shelves with inventory items.
- Issues materials and parts to City departments.
- Enforces warehouse rules and procedures and prevents unauthorized access to spaces.
- Monitors fuel storage tanks and maintains records.
- Performs basic custodial, maintenance, and repair tasks.
- Assists with maintenance of warehouse equipment and systems.
- Participates in periodic and special inventories.
- Maintains computerized records.
- Opens and closes warehouse and makes periodic security checks throughout the building and grounds.
- Monitors and tracks inventory items.
- Performs quality control and determines disposition of unacceptable inventory.
- Processes returned items and other outgoing packages for shipment.
- Picks up parts and supplies at vendors; loads and unloads truck orders.
- Performs related tasks as required.

Education and Experience:
A high school diploma or equivalent, and one year of experience in the issue, inventory, and acquisitions of parts and supplies.
Special Qualifications:
A driver’s license valid in the State of Florida and a City-approved Forklift Operator Certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- General knowledge of current warehouse and inventory practices.
- Ability to count and inspect a variety of stores and materials accurately and thoroughly.
- Ability to maintain computer records.
- Ability to drive light automotive equipment.
- Ability to get along well with others.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
