NJDWSC has an immediate opening at our offices in Wanaque, NJ, for a Security Specialist to join the
Security, Safety, and Emergency Management department. As a member of our team, you will contribute
to the continued reliable delivery of the highest-quality potable water to the over 3.5 million residents of
Northern New Jersey.
General Purpose:
The Officer will work under the direction and supervision of NJDWSC personnel and must comply with the
policies and procedures established by the Commission. This position is for the 3rd shift - 11 P.M to 7 A.M.,
which includes weekends and holidays. The schedule consists of eight hour shifts on a 4:2 rotation (four
days on and two days off). Officers will be issued Commission supplied uniforms.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor and record employees entering and leaving Commission property and facilities.
- Screen and document all visitors and deliveries.
- Monitor CCTV and alarm systems.
- Patrol Commission buildings, properties and roadways on foot or with Commission supplied vehicles.
- Respond and investigate intrusion and fire alarms.
- Keep unauthorized persons off of Commission properties.
- Interact with law enforcement agencies and the Department of Homeland Security.
- Prepare patrol activity logs and incident reports using internal computer software and computer
systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Must be retired law enforcement in the NJ State Police Pension system with a minimum of 15 years’
- Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Must reside in the state of New Jersey.
- Must be fluent in the English language.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be retired law enforcement with a minimum of 15 years’ experience.
- Must be proficient in the use of handguns/shotguns.
- Must be able to qualify with Commission issued firearms.
- Must be able to physically perform the required duties of the position.
- Additional consideration will be given to candidates who have the following:
Boat license, all-terrain vehicle certification, Emergency Medical Technician, Certified Firearms
Instructor, Scuba Diving Certification.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Must possess a current permit to carry a handgun in the State of NJ.
- Must have completed Security Officer Training.
- Must possess a current certification with the Security Officers Registration Act (SORA) NJSA 45:19A-
1 to 45:19A-12
