The Sanitation Technician is responsible for cleaning (rinse, wash and sanitizing) equipment on the PNF production floor. The Sanitation Technician will follow GMP policies and to ensure the food contact zones are cleaned and maintained. This position may also be asked to clean meeting rooms, restrooms, locker rooms and lunchroom, or other areas in the plant.

Previous experience doing sanitation in a dairy would be helpful for this role.

Training will be 8:30am-5:00pm for the first month. After training is complete, regular schedule will be 10:00am-6:30pm, Monday-Friday. The pay is $ 16.65/ hour.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure Sanitation-specific personal protective equipment (PPE) - safety glasses/goggles and uniform/rain gear - are clean and ready for use.
  • Must ensure the chemical concentrations are adequately maintained prior to use. Check for the correct chemical concentration using the titration kits.
  • Although not typically responsible for cleaning restrooms, will verify consumables in the restrooms (soap, sanitizer, toilet paper, paper towels) are replenished in all restroom facilities throughout the plant.
  • Thoroughly clean the floors with designated mops, and wringer buckets without cross-contact of the cleaning tools.
  • Use specific detergents for specific tasks, do not overuse the detergent concentrations.
  • Responsible for assuring cleaning utensils or chemical concentrations are in working order. If they are not, immediately inform QA Manager.
  • When using forklift, floor sweeper or vacuum, check all safety precautions of the equipment before operating. Report all unsafe conditions to the QA Manager.
  • Complete daily paperwork.
  • When using chemicals, understand the SDS and spill requirements prior to use.
  • Daily communication with QA Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6 months prior custodial experience preferred. Prior experience in production environment equivalent to food industry preferred.
  • Basic math and reading skills.
  • Ability to follow basic verbal and written instructions.
  • Mechanical skills to operate moving equipment.
  • Working knowledge of general custodial procedures.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, generally no more than 5 pounds at a time.
  • Job duties may include bending, squatting, stooping, going up and down stairs, walking and stretching.
  • Good decision-making ability.
  • Able to interact with a variety of people in a respectful manner.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English at a level sufficient to effectively communicate with other employees, understand and communicate safety and operational matters, and understand SDS information, GMP, HACCP, SQF, and other requirements applicable to food manufacturing and sanitation matters.
  • Good time management, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates positive working relationships with customers, vendors, co-workers and management.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.

Work Environment
Most job duties will be performed in Production areas where heavy equipment and moving parts are present. Potential hazards involving this job are:
