This position is responsible for coordinating research and development activities to support the development of new orthopedic diagnostic tests and continued maintenance of existing products. Responsibilities include project planning and execution, analytical and clinical performance validation for in vitro diagnostic devices, collaboration with internal and external researchers, data analysis, reporting and presentations to both internal and external stakeholders. This role will be tasked with merging traditional in vitro diagnostic biomarker results with predictive analytics to design and validate innovative predictive, diagnostic, and prognostic tools for advancement of orthopedic healthcare.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leads the design of new products and manufacturing processes or serve as a key member of a project team
  • Accountable for the generation of immunoassays or alternative diagnostic platforms to evaluate new design concepts or improve existing assays
  • Executes product evaluation with clinical specimens, in collaboration with internal and/or external stakeholders
  • Designs, executes, and documents feasibility experiments, design verification, and analytical and clinical validation, inclusive of data analysis and interpretation
  • Generates or updates design documentation for the product
  • Summarizes and communicates findings to peers, management, and external stakeholders via presentation, written report, and publications
  • Generates design assurance documentation for the project
  • Conducts or participates in root cause analysis for problem solving
  • Provide mentorship to other team members as needed

Expected Areas of Competence
  • Experience with the conduct and execution of research studies. Experience with successful project management is a plus
  • Experience with immunoanalytical and protein methods (ELISA, Luminex, Western Blots, SDS-PAGE, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute Guidelines and their application
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software is required.
  • The ability to compile, interpret and analyze data is required.
  • The ability to effectively communicate through written and oral format is required, along with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Aptitude for quality control and enthusiasm for continuous improvement Advanced data analytics skills and software familiarity (i.e. Minitab, Python, Matlab, etc) is a plus
Education/Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific or engineering related field is required. Advanced degree (MS/PhD) preferred.
  • Four or more years of industry experience in IVD research and development is preferred.
