NOTE - Candidate must have experience managing multiple nursing facilities at one time.

Reports To: Director of Operations
Function: The Nurse Consultant conducts Licensure and/or Medicare certification on-site surveys (may be initial, routine, or complaint investigation surveys) or in office review of documentation to ascertain compliance with applicable State Licensure and/or Federal Certification Regulations for Nursing Homes, Assisted Living facilities, and Rehabilitation Facilities.
Responsibilities:
Perform standard and/or complaint surveys of health care providers to assure compliance with State Licensure and/or Federal Regulations relative to the programs being surveyed
Use findings obtained from on-site survey activity (i.e., observations, record review, interviews, etc.), prepare deficiency reports which provides legal documentation of provider' non-compliance with applicable State Licensure and/or Federal regulations
Review plans of correction submitted by providers in response to cited deficiencies resulting from on-site surveys
Provide clarification and information to the public, providers, and prospective providers on the licensure and certification process, requirements, and interpretations
Intake complaints and concerns from the public for investigation
Provide technical assistance in interpreting requirements to providers, the public, and other agencies
Respond to written requests for information to the public, providers, and other agencies
Skills:
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of nursing home, assisted living and rehabilitation organization and management.
Basic knowledge of State and Federal regulations and the most current nationally recognized professional standards of practice applicable to all suppliers of health care services within the state
Working knowledge of items such as management; medical records; medical, nursing, pharmacy, diagnostics, clinical nutrition, food services, lab services, patient rights, activity, and social services programs sufficient for completing all or part of a licensure and/or certification survey
Working knowledge of Windows-based computers and MS Office applications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
- Long Term Care – Director of Nursing experience required.
- Demonstrated and proven clinical leadership providing support for multiple long-term care facilities in a portfolio is highly preferred.
- Ability to identify and implement clinical best practices resulting in superior patient outcomes is critical.
This position requires travel within a designated region (Central – NC) with occasional overnight stays.
