Graham Packaging Company is looking for a Quality Technician. This is for a 12 hour schedule, alternating every other weekend.

Responsibilities:
Quality Technicians are responsible for attaining and maintaining standards of quality for bottles as defined by drawings, product specifications and Quality Assurance procedures. Assist in the training of new personnel on the importance of quality and leadership. Responsible for monitoring the quality of finished product and packaging at start up and qualifications, both before and after packing. The primary duties of a Quality Technician include:
  • Follow all established safety, health, quality, GMP and all other Company policies, procedures and recognized practices.
  • Apply Continuous Quality Improvement methods and tools to analytical and reporting processes and participate in projects as assigned.
  • Assist in customer complaints investigation and corrective action process.
  • Be flexible to work other shifts and work overtime to successfully complete all duties of the position.
  • Communicate about quality with supervisor, manager, other shifts and departments verbally and through written documents according to established procedures
  • Complete written documentation, reports and forms for product and process as required.
  • Coordinate and manage the HFI and rework processes.
  • Coordinate quality activity with other departments to achieve plant objectives in compliance with plant procedures.
  • Coordinate quality control training for employees engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials and products.
  • Create and implement inspection criteria and procedures.
  • Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product.
  • Qualify bottles after a mold change per work instructions.
  • Monitor QA supplies and request replacements as needed.
  • Collect and prepare bottles for sample requests per corporate procedure
  • Hold product with non-conformity according to established procedures.
  • In the absence of the Quality Manager works with Production Manager to set up priorities for quality staff and acts as Back up Quality Manager.
  • Initiate timely corrective actions when issues arise.
  • Maintain a commitment to promote a respectful and productive team environment; assist and train as needed in correct inspection methods and techniques, etc., help with break coverage.
  • Maintain quality reports, start-up and qualification related documents and forms.
  • Manage and lead the quality equipment maintenance and calibration requirements.
  • Ability to read and use QA tools- Digital Calipers, Optical Comparator, Magna mikes, Top load, Height Gage, Torque Meters and scales.
  • Setup and maintain product files in the data collection system for input of variable/attribute data by QA, production and maintenance personnel.
  • Perform all tasks and responsibilities of the Q.A. Inspector.
  • Fulfill all duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Knowledge of SAP and Infinity programs.
  • Limited travel may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 1 to 3 years in manufacturing preferred. Minimum of 6 months quality experience preferred.
Quality Technicians are required to interact with managers, employees, vendors, and customers. Therefore, the following skills and proficiencies are also essential requirements of the position:
  • Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
  • Computer usage and typing skills are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Communicates effectively: conveys facts and information clearly both verbally and orally.
  • Collaborates well with others: proactively contributes to group objectives; volunteers to help others.
