Job Summary
The Quality Systems Technical Specialist is responsible for supporting the development the Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS) in line with the required industry standards (including ISO 9001/IATF 16949 and ISO 14001). Lead and undertake audits across all areas of the business as well as across the supply chain. Facilitate root cause and countermeasure activity to ensure all nonconformities raised during internal/external audits are effectively corrected and verified. Work with all departments to write procedures and processes to support the QMS/EMS. Provide training and champion continuous improvement throughout the company.
Major Responsibilities
- Perform audit activity to sustain Quality/Environmental Management Systems necessary for continued registration to ISO and IATF standards. Conduct audits (internal and supply chain) to continually monitor compliance to all ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 /ISO 14001 and customer specific requirements. Internal audit activity includes planning, conducting, reporting and closure of assigned audits.
- Analyze trends and work with functional areas to identify root cause of nonconformance's and assist in the direction of appropriate action plans. Track, monitor, review and close all findings issued from internal/external audits. Review the actions taken to determine effectiveness.
- Monitors Customer Specific Requirements (CSR) to ensure that we are compliant with current and aware of new/revised requirements. When applicable assist departments with implementation of CSR into their processes.
- Identify areas for improvement to further enhance processes throughout NSII. Implement approved changes using quality principles and document requirements on a timely basis. Provide support to other departments for continuous improvement activity related to QMS/EMS.
- Work with other NS North American companies to implement and maintain a corporate QMS Strategy to align processes and procedures. Conduct audits at other NS facilities.
Minimum Knowledge, Experience, and Education
- Associate's Degree in Engineering or Business related field or equivalent training and experience (5 years as certified internal auditor)
- Minimum 3 years of experience within a manufacturing organization. Demonstrated experience with proven root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies. Audit experience within the following automotive standards: ISO 9001:2015 & IATF 16949:2016, ISO 14001, OEM Customer Specific Requirements, etc. Strong Microsoft Office skill level Work requires the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong customer orientation Work requires a detail oriented individual with strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks 2 years hands-on experience in consumer electronics
- Accredited Quality Management Systems Auditor Certification and Environmental Management Systems Auditor Certification
Preferred Knowledge, Experience and Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business related field
- 5-10 years in automotive industry in a Quality or Engineering role
- Ability to interpret and implement standards and requirements. Must have effective interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to analyze and interpret data from various processes and/or departments to identify gaps and nonconformities. Strong understanding and experience in Root Cause Analysis and ability to train in the concepts when required. Knowledge of automotive core tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA and SPC. Knowledge of Quality Improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and TQM Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office including Word, Excel. And Visio
