5:00am-1:30pm
Monday thru Friday
INTRODUCTION:
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for many aspects of food quality and safety. The technician oversees the food safety, quality, employee safety, and works with sanitation to ensure plant is in compliance with all regulatory aspects. This procedure will provide a basic outline of the technicians’ responsibilities. Daily workload will vary.
DUTIES:
A. Daily checks of scales, metal detectors, baking temperature checks, thermometer calibration, product codes, labels, pre-ops,
B. Perform monthly internal audits with SQF Practitioner.
C. Take line samples and environmental monitoring swabs (as applicable).
D. Strict adherence to GMPs and SSOP monitoring activities.
E. Conduct QC checks on finished product and monitor weights and other pre-requisite program monitoring activities and ensure traceability is maintained.
F. Perform validation studies.
G. Meet with pest control operators and sanitation chemical contractors and perform corrective actions as recommended on a weekly basis.
H. Submit samples to outside labs for appropriate analysis.
I. Maintain files on samples tested.
J. Maintain and organize quality and production documentation as necessary.
K. Perform varied in-house analysis.
L. Isolate extraneous material found in products, inform departments involved and maintain a record of the events.
M. Perform corrective actions in a timely manner to prevent occurrence of non-conformity(s)
N. Issue “Hold” and “Approved” tickets on materials.
O. Maintain close communication with Quality Director. Report and document observations involving quality issues.
P. Provide training to all new hires and annually in regards to food safety and quality.
Q. Closely work with sanitation department to keep plant in audit ready state at all times.
R. Provide coverage for quality employees when necessary
