The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for the adherence of processes and procedures to the Gelest Quality System by auditing and issuing non-conformances as needed. In addition, the Quality Assurance Engineer will work closely with other groups within Gelest to aid in continuous improvement projects.

II. Summary of Essential Tasks:

  • Host customer audits and prepare corrective actions to findings and observations.
  • Conduct internal audits of the Gelest Quality System.
  • Manage the non-conformance/corrective action system.
  • Attend meetings of the Quality Systems Steering Team (QSST) and fulfill responsibilities.
  • Review/sign new batch records.
  • Daily retrieve and log refrigerator/freezer temperatures.
  • Aid in the development of continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensure customer requests related to quality are sent to the appropriate parties and follow up to ensure completion.
  • Manage records and archive files.
  • Maintain ISO 9001 compliance for certification.
  • Assist in the development and execution of six sigma and lean manufacturing projects.
  • Perform statistical and mathematical data analysis related to continuous improvement projects

III. Skills Required:

  • Good written and speaking skills.
  • Good computer skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to understand company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively plan, prioritize, organize, and implement work activities.
  • Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities and include staff in decision making.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, developing alternative solutions.
  • Ability to react professionally under pressure and to treat others with respect and consideration.
  • Ability to write reports and conduct audits.
  • Ability to interpret the ISO-9001 standard and apply to the company quality system.
  • Ability to work within Gelest Quality System and develop quality procedures.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent changes, delays, or other unexpected events.
  • Ability to observe safety and security procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions.

IV. Essential Job Functions:

Job Qualifications:

  • Training in Quality Management or equivalent experience.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Training as an internal or lead auditor.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering preferred.
  • Degree/Certification in six sigma and lean manufacturing or equivalent experience preferred.
