Per-Diem Clerk/Dispatcher

The Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Per-Diem Clerk/Dispatcher. Duties in this position are listed below.

Position Overview:

· Receives calls concerning crimes, emergencies, and other requests for police assistance

· Monitor and respond to 911 calls

· Monitor and communicate with multiple surrounding police, fire, and rescue agencies

· Operate a National Crime Information Center (NCIC) console, a computer aided mobile dispatch (CAD) system, and a Motorola MCC 5500 electronic radio console

· Broadcast orders to patrol officers in vicinity to investigate complaint or request when appropriate

· Relay radio and telephone messages between police officers and the community.

· Perform clerical duties such as responding to questions from walk-in and telephone traffic.

· Control access to Police Department secured areas

· Monitor the departments closed circuit camera and intercom systems

· Perform various clerical duties including completing the electronic dispatch log and filing police reports

· Subject to court depositions / proceedings as needed

· Ability to work voluntary and involuntary overtime

Qualifications & Experience:

· High School Diploma or GED equivalent

· Ability to operate various office equipment such as police radios, teletype machine and other police relayed technology

· Ability to work with the general public, and a strong ability to multi-task work in an extremely fast-paced, stressful atmosphere.

· Applicants must be able work any shift.

A physical and drug test will be required as well.

This position pay rate is $20.00 an hour.
