PROGRAM
We have several Peer Partner positions across San Diego. The location, programs and hours are located in the descriptions below.
Bridges Teen Center in Southeast San Diego offers supportive treatment services for youth in Central-Southeast San Diego who exhibit signs of alcohol and/or drug abuse and other behavioral or mental health concerns. Also provided are Early Intervention Programs for teens and adolescents with behavioral-based curriculum specific to their needs. This position is full time, 10am – 6:30pm, Monday – Friday.
Bridges Behavioral Health Link (BHL) in Pt. Loma provides onsite mental health and substance use disorder services to people experiencing homelessness. In collaboration with the City and County of San Diego and other community partners, BHL staff work in a temporary housing facility to assess and provide services to help stabilize residents and help them transition to a more secure situation. This position is full time, 8am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday.
Parent Care Family Recovery Services are designed for chemically dependent women and their families who are at high risk for child abuse, domestic violence and homelessness. A majority of women in treatment also have a dual psychiatric diagnosis and a host of physical health related issues. There is a full-time position in central San Diego (near National City), 8:30-5pm, Monday – Friday.
POSITION
Peer Partners are paraprofessionals who are life-trained with first-hand experience with the various systems of care utilized by clients in the program. These individuals understand how systems work and serve as an advocate and mentor to clients who are involved in various systems in a non-judgmental and respectful manner. Duties include:
· Serves as a consultant to clients and caregivers receiving services through Vista Hill Programs on an as needed basis. Based on program of assignment this may include coordinating visitation, mental health resources, court dates, etc.
· Maintain a network of services and resources for clients related to the Program’s area of service and client needs.
· Assess the social service needs and assist with accessing linkages to other services based on the needs of the family.
· Provide needed reports to supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.
· Completes all charting, data entry, filing and record keeping as appropriate in accordance with the program requirements, including data collection.
· Participates as an advocate in treatment teams engaging with direct service providers to promote the Support’s and the Support-child relational perspective.
· Assists families in developing their own support network related to their needs.
· Helps increase the client’s or caregiver’s advocacy skills to obtain services and support.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school graduate.
- Prior experience with working with clientele similar to those in the assigned Program.
- Prior experience navigating public systems within San Diego County
- Must be free of parole and probation for 3 years per contract.
- Valid CA driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Must pass background check, drug test, TB test and COVID vaccine requirements.
- Must complete a 75-hour training course with the County of San Diego after hire.

PAY
$16.75 per hour
This is a starting rate and may be adjusted up based on education and experience.
Current Vista Hill employees in these job titles for 2023 are paid $16.75 - $18.50 per hour.
BENEFITS
Employees working over 30 hours a week receive employer-paid benefits, including medical, dental, vision, paid time off (vacation and sick leave), paid holidays, employer-paid retirement contribution and clinical supervision (if applicable). Some programs qualify for student loan forgiveness programs.
Employees who work less than 30 hours a week do not qualify for healthcare benefits.
