Job Summary and Qualifications

The OR Tech is a non-licensed skilled and experienced person who is responsible under the direct supervision of a registered nurse for selected tasks in the administration of patient care within the C/S and /or operating room suite. Assists with surgical procedures in scrub duties. Assists in the orientation, training, and education of new personnel. Assists in maintaining safe and aseptic environment for all patients. Performs all related duties as assigned and directed. Facilitates the provision of individualized patient care. Reports to Registered Nurse on each case and the Clinical Manager and the Director of Surgical Services. This is a non-exempt position. • 
  You will assist surgeons by passing instruments, medications, supplies, holding retractors, and anticipating surgeons' needs during the course of surgery.
• You will assist in maintaining safe and aseptic environment for all patients.
• You will maintain correct counts per policy
• You will need to understand concepts of appropriate decontamination handling of instruments and supplies

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate from high school or equivalent program

• Completion of Surgical Technologist course required
• Surgical Technologist certification required within 6 months of hire
• Able to perform 60% of procedures Current BCLS certification required
