Full-time
Mercury

Building Mercury has turned out to be a pretty wild endeavor, so we’re looking to bring someone smart onto our compliance team to help us out.

As an Onboarding Specialist, you’ll be focused on getting accounts open for startups from all over the world. These companies will range from the latest hot Silicon Valley tech startup cracking cheap space travel to a Peruvian farm growing sustainable coffee, so you’ll be exposed to a pretty wide range of characters and ideas.

You’ll make getting an account for a startup easier than buying groceries, and you’ll also sniff out and catch bad actors, balancing protection of our company with a great user experience.

Here are some things you’ll do on the job:

  • Review and enter business data for companies that have signed up for Mercury.
  • Gain a deep understanding for the types of customers who are signing up and how we can adjust the product and user experience to match their needs.
  • Develop an unfailing eye for potential fraud and risky users and come up with sensible ways to productize it.
  • Gain an encyclopedic knowledge of business and identification document types.
  • Identify ways to make the application review process more efficient and automated.
  • Help with other daily tasks related to onboarding and compliance.

You should:

  • Have experience reviewing business sign-ups and handle queue-based work, or have confidence you can learn quickly.
  • Write with clarity and purpose.
  • Pay extremely close attention to detail.
  • Work efficiently and independently, but know when to ask for help.
  • Understand how to prioritize your work and keep an organized, clean inbox.
  • Have great critical thinking skills and enjoy problem solving.
  • Have a desire to improve both internal and external processes and products.
  • Delight in providing an exceptional customer experience.

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and all employees receive salary + equity + benefits. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company.

The ranges shared are for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced or more senior than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.

The salary range for candidates in the New York City or San Francisco area is $60,000–$72,000.

The salary range for candidates in the US outside of the New York City / San Francisco area is $53,000–$65,000.

The salary range for candidates in Canada is CAD 62,000–71,500.
