OCED is a multi-technology office responsible for overseeing more than $20B of investment in large scale demonstrations in emerging technologies such as clean hydrogen, carbon capture, advanced nuclear reactors, grid-scale energy storage, industrial emissions reductions as well as demonstrations in rural and socioeconomically disadvantaged regions. We are looking for individuals with a range of skills and interest in large-scale clean energy demonstration projects, particularly in renewable systems, carbon capture and removal, hydrogen, and nuclear energy technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES & COMPETENCIES

Information Technology Equipment

  • Primary services and tasks may include, but are not limited to assisting federal staff with:
  • Planning, programming, budgeting, and execution (PPBE) process for the acquisition of IT assets in coordination with the Budget Team, Program Secretarial Officers, and Program Management Support Offices.
  • Coordinate, procure, and inventory IT assets through Energy IT Services (EITS) team or other source as needed.

Information Technology Systems

  • Capture business requirements, management of current technologies and future Information Technology Roadmap.
  • Identify COTS or other systems for addressing needs and support the acquisition of such software.
  • Develop Onboarding/Off boarding software licensing policies and procedures for equipment accountability for software and equipment that is not managed by the DOE Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).
  • Ensure end user compliance with applicable cyber security training and asset management.
  • Identify user information and system requirements for software/hardware requirements.
  • Administer the SharePoint site including site set-up, content development and management in collaboration with SMEs, permission management, training, and troubleshooting.
  • Represent the OMD with OCIO on information technology related matters to include delivering business solutions.
  • Prepare applicable system and user documentation and provide other relevant services related to the above tasks such as training and preparation of presentations.
  • Provide SME level support, advice and counsel related to the use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) or custom systems for the Grants management workflow system.
  • Provide expertise and technical support for the integration of external system interfaces (such as Standard Accounting and Reporting System (STARS), STRIPES, Financial Accounting Support Tool (FAST), and market feeds into a future information system.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of IT technical experience or 5+ years with a Master’s Degree
  • Bachelors degree in an IT related field (required)
  • Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Windows environment
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Must be able to maintain a positive attitude, a strong sense of urgency, excellent communication skills and demonstrate an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction with the ability to prioritize and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrates self-discipline and motivation in all aspects of job performance

  • Experience in DOE environment is preferred
  • Clean Energy experience desired but not required.
  • Remote position on eastern time zone.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. Work is mostly sedentary in nature but will require periodic standing and walking and lifting. Must have good vision and be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
