Where the Chemistry Happens

The North American Trade Compliance (NATC) Specialist’s responsibilities revolve around identifying and eliminating risk to BAS by ensuring compliance involving federal, state, and local regulations, as well as BASF global internal requirements for the US and CA. This function supports sales and marketing initiatives and day-to-day business operations. Communications and close working relationships with BASF businesses and global compliance colleagues is a vital part of this function.

We are looking for a professional like you to join our Trade Compliance team. This position will be located in Florham Park NJ or Southfield, MI and reports directly to the NA Trade Control Expert and Team Lead in the Environmental Health and Safety’s Product Regulations organization. This position may be a hybrid work environment.

As a NA Trade Compliance Specialist (Hybrid) you create chemistry by…

Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements concerning chemical weapon precursors, drug precursors and dual use export controls.
• Managing daily activities which include oversight of trade control operations processes and regulatory documentation.
• Classifying BASF products based on chemical composition and end-use.
• Effectively communicating with stakeholders to ensure awareness and compliance with internal and external regulations.
Assuring that exports, imports, domestic trade of goods, technologies and services comply with respective international conventions and national laws.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Your formula for success…

Having earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related science field. Possessing experience in Chemistry, Supply Chain or Customs Clearance is preferred The ability to read and interpret legal and government regulations is a plus. Strong time management, analytical, communication and organizational skills are required to prioritize workload and support complex activities and projects. Ability to work independently or within a team to meet deadlines and assigned goals Knowledge of Microsoft Suite required SAP experience or other ERP systems work is a plus
