SUMMARY:
Trains extensively under the direct supervision of senior machinists and/or quality technicians over a minimum period of 6 months in all aspects of basic machining to include operating conventional and CNC equipment, in addition to the fundamentals of measuring techniques and documentation requirements, and adhering to the Quality Management System, all applicable regulations and company standards, and Lean Manufacturing Principles.
Hours 3:15 PM to 11:45 PM
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Trained to understand blueprints or layout on workpiece to determine sequence of operations and finished dimensions of the work piece and accurately determine job specifications.
- Trained on the correct handling and use of measuring instruments, how to record actual measurement requirements, and how to avoid mistakes, as well as to understand the company’s calibration system.
- Trained to recognize and understand product documentation such as the blue book, router, tool sheets, inspection sheets, daily operations log, safety incidents, etc. and learns how and when to accurately complete required documentation.
- Trained to operate conventional machinery such as buffers, blasters, speed lathes, the band saw, tumblers and/or grinders, etc.
- Trained to operate CNC equipment - understand CNC controls, how to request and return tools, identify worn or broken tools, change inserts, and when to ask for assistance, as well as quality and productivity requirements.
- Trained to perform preventive maintenance on the equipment in the assigned area, as well as maintain lean manufacturing 5S standards.
- Trained to understand and comply with company policies, safety guidelines, quality system procedures and housekeeping standards.
