_*POSITION OVERVIEW:_*
The purpose of this role is to optimize transportation processes within Conrad Yelvington Distributors (CYD) for rail, marine and truck transport. This role will implement and maintain technology (applications & programs) to track movement of cars, barges/ships, and trucks to maintain efficiency and increase turns. Automates systems to communicate car locations and ensure cars are moving as expected. Builds relationships within CYD, Preferred Materials Inc (PMI), AMAT South Division and with carriers to ensure material is moving as efficiently as possible to supply internal and external customers.

PRIMARY ACTIVITIES:
- Implements and maintains traffic programs and traffic reports through various internal systems.
- Implements and reviews and maintains systems to track and manage railcars.
- Understand rail logistics and cost flow of rail service and business
- Establishes an effective acquaintance and personal relationship with individuals in key positions with truck and rail carriers in local, regional and national capacities.
- Assist Vice President Sales with negotiating rate and service matters with truck and rail carriers
- Creates and interprets demand planning schedules for scheduling of materials
- Maintains current information on all tariff interpretations and applications, government laws and regulations, industry developments, competitive pricing, and service information on carriers in the market.
- Works closely with sales and operations team on transportation matters related to securing adequate terminal inventories.
- Evaluates and reports critical KPIs and exception dashboards related to supply chain dynamics
- Internal Relationships – Build in-depth knowledge of CYD’s business and strategy with strong relationships across the PMI Region and AMAT South Division
- Production capabilities and schedules – Clearly understand the short and long term production capabilities and flexibility of the various plants (aggregate, asphalt and ready-mix), from blends to mix designs.
- Schedule – In conjunction with sales and operations teams, maintain short and long term schedules, for customers (internal and external), to feed Sales applications/programs
- Inventory – Monitor present and future inventories, critical products (both long and short), and coordinate requirements and changes with sales and operations
- Customer Relationships – Build and maintain strong relationship with key rail (internal & external) customers and maintain knowledge of customer preferences.
- Performance improvement – Assist VP Sales to identify and implement business changes to maximize profit, beginning with sourcing and scheduling of materials and continuing through product balance efforts and new account management decisions for smart growth.
- Communicate any proposed changes to schedule to VP Sales, operations, sales rep and material orders team
- Coordinate and review sourcing of asphalt, aggregates, aggregate blends, long products with sales, material orders and operations teams
- Hold logistics operations meetings and coordinate with sales meetings to ensure direction is understood and communicated back and forth between teams
- Identify and implement cost reduction, cash flow (TWC) and profit improvement proposals with sales and operations teams
- Review approved quotes to confirm, or possibly amend, sourcing and inventory selection
- Communicate any proposed changes to quotes to VP Sales and/or sales rep
- Secures the most advantageous methods for inter-divisional and inter-terminal transfer of products as needed.
- Collaborates with Rail Logistics, Rail shops, AP and AR departments on all rate matters, traffic programs and traffic reports.
- Files claims against rail carriers as necessary on all inbound and outbound shipments.
- Maintains and distributes rail car tracking reports. Monitors and expedites rail shipments. Arranges and monitors rail supply and truck equipment availability.
- Prepares reports, computer freight rate maintenance, weekly transportation reports, competitive rate sheets, and other special projects.
- Sourcing – Manage day to day sourcing of rail, plants and customers (internal and external) in conjunction with material orders team
- Review daily orders and schedules, pre and post-delivery to confirm, or possibly amend, sourcing and inventory selection
- Determines and maintains accurate rail rates as well as tariff files.

Education: Bachelor Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management a plus
Certification:_ ASCM Certification in Logistics (CLTD), Supply Chain (CSCP) a plus_
Preferred experience or field of study:_ Logistics/Supply Chain/Business_
Work Experience: 5-7 years__
Travel Requirements:_ Less than 10%_
Computer Skills:_ Technologically savvy, with a full understanding and fluency in relevant computer applications. *_Previous experience with TMS / Intellitrans a plus*
