Job description
The Metro Group, Inc., located in Long Island City, NY is currently looking for a Lead HVAC Mechanic for their HVAC Service Division. This is a full-time, union-track position with full benefits. This role functions in leading a crew in repairs, modifications, and installations of various components of HVAC systems as well as completing troubleshooting and maintenance work.
Qualifications include demonstrable experience with HVAC systems plus:
- Leading a supervising a crew
- Basic troubleshooting of both air- and water-cooled HVAC equipment as well as PTAC units, water sourced heat pumps, and VRF systems
- Completing preventative maintenance of HVAC systems
- Brazing for all types of systems
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Overtime availability
- Agreeable and self-motivated attitude, willingness to take initiative
- Enthusiasm in taking on assignments and responsibilities, willingness to learn
- Detail oriented, taking pride in your work with a focus on quality
- Excellent communication skills
- Capable of working in a professional environment and providing great customer service
- Willingness to adhere to company policies and procedures
- Ability to meet physical requirements of position
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or GED
Applicable industry training and certifications are preferred but not required: OSHA 30, EPA 608 Certified, F60, etc. Please note training and certifications on your resume when applying
Additional responsibilities could include:
- Driving a company vehicle
- Lifting tools, materials and equipment
- Performing other miscellaneous tasks to support the operation, when needed. For example, assisting on other job types, doing material pick-up and deliveries, etc.

Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
