Job Description:
Limited Duration: This is a limited duration position, currently funded through June 30, 2023. Continuation beyond that date is subject to available funding. If you are a current Oregon Judicial Department regular status employee, acceptance of a limited duration status position does not change your status to limited duration (although trial services status may still apply). See Judicial Department Personnel Rules 2.42 and 6 for more information or contact your assigned HR Manager.

Benefits to you:
  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees, including mental health coverage.
  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $17.28 - $28.13.

Position Highlights:
The
Washington County Circuit Court
in Hillsboro, Oregon, is hiring a Criminal Set Aside Clerk (Judicial Services Specialist 2).
In this role, you will be the subject matter expert on criminal set asides, sometimes called expungements. Much of your day will be spent assisting with the clerical management of set aside filings, as well as providing direction, coordination, and technical expertise in all areas of set aside case processing. You will assist attorneys, litigants, other agencies, and the public in person, by email, and by phone with questions about set aside case management and processing based on criteria established by laws, rules, policies, and procedures.
Additionally, you will provide backup to the other units in the Criminal Department by checking in customers for morning and afternoon court appearances, providing information about arraignment and attorney representation, and providing related information to the court.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified applicant must have at least one (1) year of responsible, clerical experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
AND
Possession of a high school diploma or GED, or equivalent life or work experience.

  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks that included using a computer to enter and retrieve information, meeting strict deadlines, and maintaining accuracy when interrupted or distracted by a noisy work setting.
  • Experience explaining processes, procedures, policies, or rules to customers.
  • Skill in writing and reviewing documents for accuracy, content, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Experience identifying and safeguarding confidential information and materials.
  • Experience communicating in Spanish is preferred but not required.
Working Conditions
  • This is a full-time limited duration position, and the work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per work week.
  • Infrequent after-hours or overtime work may be required.
  • Frequent email, phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds and with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances, highly stressful situations, or trauma.
  • Long periods of sitting or standing at a computer.
  • Regular use of the following equipment: telephone, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
  • Lifting items that weigh up to 25 pounds may be required.

You will be subject to a criminal background check if you are a finalist. Adverse results are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may result in disqualification if the circumstances are directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.
