PURPOSE:
The Internal Control Analyst will participate in a program to continually review and monitor the Finance Division's business processes. The Analyst will assist in the evaluation of business processes to understand the inherent risks in these processes and to evaluate the effectiveness of the process to mitigate the identified risk exposures. The Analyst will apply a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of processes, with a focus on internal controls, organizational management, risk management, sustainability, and overall compliance with corporate policies and procedures. The Analyst will assist in the review of internal controls for strengths and weaknesses and to help ensure that elevated focus is allocated to the risk areas creating the highest exposure to the Finance Division. The Analyst will use industry standards along with corporate policies and procedures to guide business process evaluations in order to identify process improvement opportunities and help promulgate best practices and lessons learned across the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform a variety of projects to review and analyze business processes within the Finance Division. Arrange and conduct interviews with process owners, control operators, and other subject matter specialists to develop a robust understanding of the procedures, inherent risks, and mitigating internal controls. Analyze and evaluate the process and identify opportunities for improvement in process efficiency and effectiveness. Identify missing or inadequate controls and assist in developing remediation plans for noted gaps or deficiencies. Assist in drafting recommendations, business process narratives, and process flowcharts.
Assist in monitoring the progress of process recommendations. Work with control operators and business process owners to obtain updates on progress and examples of newly implemented control procedures. Work with business process owner/management to help resolve issues that arise as they work on implementing recommended improvements.
Assist with scheduling projects with process owners and other relevant stakeholders. Maintain a schedule of activities and provide frequent updates on the timing and status of ongoing projects and planned future activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management Services, Finance, Accounting, or a related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
Experience: 3 years experience in a risk management, third party risk management, audit, compliance, security governance or legal services role.
Preferred Qualifications: Possess or in the process of obtaining a relevant risk or business certification (e.g., CPA, CIA, CISA, CISM).
