VCS is looking for Inside Research Worker in Indianapolis, IN

Pay rate: $20/hour - $21/hour with $40/week for Health Insurance Reimbursement from VCS.

Period: 01/16/2023 to 12/31/2023

Weekly Schedule (how many hours/days): 40 hours
Shift: 7am - 4:00opm

Looking for a highly motivated individual to join Corteva’s Insectary team. The Insectary conducts insect rearing to support Corteva’s Insect management research; Prior experience working in a lab environment and with insects would be advantageous for this role. The job is highly routine, detail oriented and focuses primarily on insect colony care & maintenance, assisting researchers with insecticide bioassays & various insect management research trials. The individual must be able to work in a team environment and be comfortable working alone on solitary tasks as well. The candidate must have good organization skills, great attention to detail, follow SOPs & verbal instructions, and adhere to safety & compliance protocols. The individual should be able to complete tasks under little supervision after the initial training period is over. They must be a fast learner and flexible as tasks, requests, and orders change frequently with little notice. Time management is also very important as most tasks need to be started and completed within the same day.

• Attention to details; Must be comfortable working with insects and insecticide - focuses primarily on insect colony care & maintenance, assisting researchers with insecticide bio assays & various insect management research trials.
• We are looking for a person with some science background (insect experience will be great), lab experience etc. Maybe a recent science graduate would work.

Critical skills:

• Must be detail orientated
• Basic computer knowledge & navigational skills
• Have a basic understanding of written and spoken English preferred
• Communicate effectively with supervisor.
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures
• Ability to follow safety procedures

Duties & Responsibilities (may include any or all of the following):

• Ability to use Research equipment
• General housekeeping

Expectations of employment:

• Able to complete repetitive tasks for long periods of time
• Be self-motivated and possess a positive attitude
• Must be 18 years or older
• Workers are expected to be on time when scheduled
• Hours may vary with work days occasionally lasting more than 8 hours.
• Must have a reliable means to work
• Must be able to stand 8 hours a day
• Employees will be asked to make/receive personal phone calls during their breaks unless it’s an emergency
• Workers are expected to meet minimum performance standards.Cholinesterase Medical Evaluations (Blood Draw), Fit Test, Pulmonary function Test will be done
