Coperion is looking for a Director of Operations / General Manager to join our team in Wytheville, Virginia. As a Director of Operations/GM you will have overall responsibility for all aspects of the Coperion facility. This position has oversight of P&L for the site, and drives profitable business with the highest levels of safety, customer satisfaction, and quality. The GM and Director of Ops provides leadership and guidance to managers in every functional area of the facility through solid and dotted lines, as well as support a positive work climate and culture.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and recommend plans and budgets and conduct activities in accordance with approved plans and budgets.
  • Position has overall responsibilities for all manufacturing operations and engineering .
  • Implement organizational and staffing plans to ensure they are consistent and adequate for attainment of company objectives.
  • Establish and maintain good employee relations and communications to promote teamwork and achievement of goals.
  • Minimize risk to the organization, including product liability, environmental, and employee issues.
  • Responsible for supervision of group leaders and team members in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for site ISO Requirements.
  • Create a positive plant culture that demonstrates leadership in safety, environmental, and quality compliance.
  • Drive all plant performance measurements and goals including but not limited to safety, quality, productivity, profitability, on time delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Accountable for excellent execution of order fulfillment process measured by on time delivery and forecast accuracy.
  • Ensure annual capital plan is respected and accurately forecasted.
  • Create the annual development and execution of a business plan that improves profitability and is accurately forecasted.
  • Support Lean efforts to improve all aspects of company operations; coordinate measurement of key metrics and use them to monitor and adjust continuous improvement.
  • Support, advise and consult top management in decision making based on local business knowledge.
  • Actively lead and negotiate the objectives, activities, and expectations of the different functions across Hillenbrand and Coperion matrix organization.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering related field
  • 5+ years of experience as a functional leader within a manufacturing plant, or as an Operations Manager
  • 5+ years of experience in management, manufacturing process, budget preparation, and cost control
  • Solid understanding of P&L and experience with P&L decision/forecasting

Great to Haves:

  • Experience in lean management
  • Experience leading both in person and remote teams
  • Global experience strongly preferred
