We are hiring a Fruit Ops Resource to join our team!
This position provides direct support to the Safety team for Tropicana located in Bradenton Florida.
The Fruit Operations Resource provides leadership associated with staffing and operational duties for all Fruit Receiving, Extraction, and By-Product production across all three shifts. Duties include setting departmental strategy, safety/quality, budget, and owner of key metrics.
The key job requirements are;
- Lead the team to ensure all are coaching for safe behaviors and compliance with safety policies and procedures driving each department to be a Zero zone for accidents.
- Drive for excellence in product quality and food/feed safety standards, ensuring audit ready standards every day.
- Manage day to day operations team of over 45 members, 3 shifts, 7-days, to achieve business objectives and goals.
- Coordinate with appropriate company agencies, other departments and outside vendors as needed on intra department issues.
- Manage department budget, AOP, and administer cost reduction/cost control initiatives.
- Effectively communicate throughout all levels of the organization.
- Administer company policies, procedures, and the collective bargaining agreement within the department.
- Work with Maintenance teams to maintain reliable manufacturing programs to reduce equipment downtime, increase operating efficiency and improve safety.
- Identify gaps in performance, investigate root cause effectively and efficiently and implement counter measures to eliminate reoccurrences.
- Manage small capital projects and support commercialization initiatives within the department.
- Maintain and communicate the operational performance, i.e. reliability, scrap rates, etc., of the department.
- Coach and develop all employees to achieve superior performance and enhance personal growth and development.
- Develop and implement daily management systems (base business processes) as needed to ensure stability in daily operations and corresponding results.
- Qualifications / Requirements :
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably a B.S. in Science, Engineering, or comparable work experience (at least 5+ years) in a high speed manufacturing environment required, preferably experience in a food and beverage environment.
- 3+ years work experience in a supervisory position with frontline employees required.
- Experience in food and beverage industry preferred.
- Strong mechanical background with ability to analyze pumps, motors, fluid flow equipment, heat exchangers, conveying equipment, and blend systems.
- Requires the ability to develop frontline associates and drive effective team decision making.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to express ideas effectively with senior management as well as in group and individual situations
- Demonstrate computer proficiency: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP/Infor is a plus.
- Proficiency in TPM or LSS is a plus
- Demonstrate ability to function successfully in a fast paced, changing work environment.
- Exhibit strong decision making ability, initiative, and appropriate interpersonal style to guide and shape individuals toward goal achievement.
- Ability to set and execute multiple priorities with respect to production schedule changes, construction, maintenance, and quality in order to meet customer demands.
- Utilize analysis and problem assessment skills by gathering relevant data from multiple sources to determine root causes and implement permanent solutions.
- Maintain operational effectiveness by adjusting quickly to new responsibilities, adapting to different tasks, varying environments and people.
- Empower decision making authority and task responsibility to appropriate direct reports. Provide the necessary feedback, support and resources to direct reports utilizing their time, skills and potential.
- Utilize technical skills and planning skills in working with the Engineering Department, outside contractors, consultants and senior management to convey project requirements and specifications.
- Utilize follow-up skills to monitor the results of delegations, assignments, and projects.
Ability to flex schedule to accommodate production needs (some weekends will be required).
- Expected salary range is $61,000-$88,500
- Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 8% paid out annually
