GENERAL MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY:
The General Manager’s primary responsibility is to achieve maximum profitability of the hotel; to develop, train, and motivate their team to provide exceptional guest experiences while ensuring that the property operates according to Kriya Hotels and franchise standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Human Resources

1. Recruit, train, schedule and motivate staff
2. Evaluate and document employee performance; reward, promote and discipline per Kriya guidelines
3. Assure that Kriya, franchise, federal, state, and local rules and laws requiring training and certification are followed, and manuals, posters, and forms are implemented and adhered to without exception.
4. Respect employee confidentiality. Demonstrate equality and compliance of all employment laws without exception.

Responsible and accountable for selection of quality employee development, security and safety. Understand that the employee is the most valuable company asset.

5. Counsel, train and coach hotel team members daily. Delegate responsibilities to best utilize all personnel.

Quality Assurance & Asset Management

1. Quality Assurance: “Zero defects” driven, quality assurance is inclusive of, but not limited to, the outward appearance and cleanliness of the physical property. QA will be evidenced by employee attitude and overall morale.

2. Maintenance of Quality Standards for proper guestroom cleanliness; maintenance of all facilities, service and employee performance.

3. Promptly investigate guest complaints; respond to guest comments and surveys per policy and procedure
4. Assure protection and safekeeping of all keys. Ensure implementation of key control.
5. Inform Kriya of all significant problems which are of an unusual nature.

Accounting & Controls

1. Review daily, all property operating statistics and statements including night audits for accuracy
2. Ensure proper cash controls and other internal controls to protect company assets
3. Review and approve all vendor invoices and packing slips prior to submission
4. Responsible for diligent and timely collection of all direct bill accounts.
5. Critique monthly financial statements and budgets
6. Analyze operations and meet with department heads to review the operations and receive their suggestions
7. Prepare all reports on a timely basis. Analyze and state strategies to improve

Sales & Marketing

1. Fully understand Revenue Management concepts
2. Approve rates and rate strategies
3. Assist the sales department in design of annual Sales & Marketing Plan. Give dedicated time to outside sales and relationship maintenance of current clients.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
1. Leadership ability absolutely necessary
2. Education – Degree in accounting, business administration, and/or hotel administration preferred. Equivalent hospitality experience accepted.
3. Experience – Prior hotel management experience required
4. Working knowledge of all hotel departments
5. Physical – Ability to stand on feet for 8 hours at a time, ability to assist all departments in their work
6. Stress – Ability to cope with stress, showing self-control during excitement
7. Multi-Tasking – Ability to work well on multiple tasks at the same time
8. Friendly & Cheerful – Ability to be friendly and cheerful; interact easily with strangers
9. Oral Comprehension – Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented
10. Employee Relations – Ability to maintain high employee morale and a well trained, highly qualified staff
11. Organization – Ability for strong organizational skills and strong detail orientation
12. Articulate – Ability to communicate well (confidently, accurately, and in a friendly manner)
13. Responsibility – Honest and dependable; able to work without supervision

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
