Delivery Driver/Customer Service (Full-Time) (26 Ft Box Truck)

The Jacobson shipping and receiving department seeks an experienced Box Truck Delivery Driver/Customer Service team member with strong organizational and customer service skills to join our team. This is an important role to our business operations as the largest floral hard goods supplier in New England and one of the largest in the United States.

Position Details

The Delivery Driver/Customer Service team member reports to the Shipping Manager and is responsible for ensuring the proper delivery of orders to customers in a timely and professional manner which reflects Jacobson’s values and customer service standards.

The right candidate for this role have at least SIX to NINE MONTHS of previous work experience in both providing excellent customer service and driving a 26ft Box Truck (or bigger).

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities

  • Deliver all product to Jacobson customers with exceptional customer service skills, professionalism, and integrity.
  • Responsible for full cycle of all deliveries including, but not limited to, delivery of all pieces, securing customer signatures, returns, credit memos, etc.
  • Complete appropriate shift documentation and notes.
  • Receiving duties, stocking duties, and other tasks on an as needed basis.
  • Meet all shipping delivery schedules deadlines, ensuring customer’s needs are meet under time restraints of their orders.
  • Develop working knowledge of product and changing inventory to provide quality customer service.
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds.

Responsibilities on the road

  • Comply with all Massachusetts’s Registry of Motor Vehicle (RMV) regulations, local speed, and traffic laws.
  • Communicate immediately with central dispatch and shipping manager of any incidents, accidents, or disruptions in delivery schedule or payment.
  • Operate all company vehicles in a safe manner and treat other motorists with courtesy.
  • Responsible for cleanliness, maintenance, service, and state inspection of company vehicle.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and genuine interest helping customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • 6 months+ experience driving a box truck required
  • Non CDL position
  • Some demonstrated customer service experience
  • Strong time management skills
  • Willing to adhere to assigned routes, schedules, safety procedures, and transportation laws.
  • Ability to arrive at scheduled shifts on time and satisfy work commitments.
  • History of excellent communication and strong customer service skills in previous work experience

Required in order to advance in the interview process

  • Must possess a clean driving record
  • Must have a current DOT Medical Card* or be able to obtain one if offered the position.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday
  • 7:00 am to 4:00 pm
  • Some Saturdays as required.
  • Hours may fluctuate seasonally, must be available to adjust hours based on need.

* Why does a non-CDL Driver need a Mass DOT Medical Card?

A Department of Transportation (DOT) physical is a medical exam required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association (FMSCA) and confirms that one is healthy enough to safely drive a commercial vehicle. A DOT medical card is required for any commercial driver operating a vehicle with a gross weight of 10,000 pounds or more. This applies to all commercial driver's license (CDL) holders and non-CDL holders including hoisting/hydraulic operators, box truck drivers, commercial bus drivers, limousine drivers, and others.
