Alliant Energy has an outstanding opportunity to join our team as a Drafting Technician I in Cedar Rapids, IA! In this role, you will perform routine drafting work and drawing control activities. You will provide accurate and timely completion of project assignments using industry and company drafting standards and procedures.

• This position can be hybrid with a mix of working from home and in the office.
• Positions come down at 11:00 p.m. on deadline date

• Drafts accurate detailed drawings and maps from information provided by engineers, designers, and others.
• Drafts as-built drawings according to mark ups.
• Ensures accurate placement of drawings within electronic file directory structure and/or document management system and corporate records system.
• Transfers information provided on vendor drawings according to company standards and format.
• Creates original and as-built drawings for substation foundation, electrical wiring and schematics, or steel structures under the guidance of other engineering personnel.
• Provide customized drawings and maps for various corporate requests.

Education Requirement:

• Associate degree with an emphasis in computer aided drafting or related area is preferred.

Preferred Experience:

• Six months or more of computer aided drafting and design (CADD) experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

• Working knowledge of CADD systems.
• Working knowledge of basic methods and standards for the production of CADD drawings.
• Ability to interpret and understand physical and electrical drawings.
• Basic electric and construction knowledge.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).
• Works in a diverse and inclusive environment.
