Posting Summary
The Gund Institute for Environment seeks an experienced policy and partnerships leader to oversee relationships, policy and societal impact for a dynamic, transdisciplinary cross-campus research institute of more than 100 faculty, student and post-doctorate fellows from all academic units at The University of Vermont. The Director of Policy and Partnerships will work closely with the Director to develop and implement policy and partnerships strategy and priorities across the institute. They will lead the development of policy outreach, engagement, and impact for the Institute through synthesized communication of Gund expertise and research. They will build new and strengthen existing opportunities for relationships with decision- makers in government, business, non-profit, and the public, and connect Gund fellows and affiliates with these stakeholders. They will help develop and fundraise for the Institute to achieve societal impact. They will build internal policy capacity and partnership opportunities for Gund fellows and affiliates.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Master’s degree in policy, law, government, business, environment, or other relevant field and two to three years of related experience in public policy and/or business on state, national, or international level required. Expertise in policy, economic, legal, and/or scientific aspects of environmental issues, with some understanding of ecosystem services and ecological economics, required. Effective ability to establish/enhance relationships and network of government, policymakers, environmental NGOs, and/or business communities. High-quality communication skills, evidenced through public speaking and written communication experience. Demonstrated ability to work independently and accurately in a fast–paced environment to resolve problems. Ability to travel as needed.

Desirable Qualifications
Prior fundraising and/or business experience.
Experience in academic settings, working with researchers to bridge science and policy.
