Job description
PURPOSE OF JOB: Provides leadership and direction for all Radiology departments including Diagnostic Radiology, Ultrasound, CT Scan, Women’s Diagnostic, MRI, IRAD. Directs, coordinates and controls the functions of the above services. Proactively manages the growth and development of these services consistent with the Doylestown Health System Mission, Vision, Values and strategic plan.
JOB CRITERIA AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
1. Provides leadership and oversees the coordination of administrative, fiscal, and clinical activities to ensure efficient operations and to provide patients with optimal care.
-Consults with Vice President, Vice President, Critical Care and Surgical Services & Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Medical Officer to keep them informed of the activities and needs of the departments.
-Provides strategic leadership in a rapidly changing healthcare environment.
- Works in collaboration with Chief Radiologist in coordination, planning of operations.
-Maintains ongoing evaluation of systems and implementation of system changes to increase efficiency, cost savings and quality.
- Has ultimate responsibility for and maintains an inventory of all radiology equipment throughout the entire department including knowledge of service contracts
-Keeps current with emerging technologies and new developments in radiology making recommendations for potential future adoption of these technologies and equipment
-Demonstrates responsible fiscal planning, development and analysis of all departmental budgets within set time frame.
-Prepares, evaluates and monitors hospital budgets for the following financial disbursements: Capital Equipment Expenditures, FTE Allocation, and Operating expenses. Prepares documents, gathers data and analyzes the results in order to explain variances as required. Monitors Associates payroll and other related expense reports.
-Oversee completion of budgets and works with the clinical managers of the departments to develop and complete annual capital budget for relevant cost centers.
-Implements programs which contribute to the growth and revenue enhancement and cost savings of the organization.
-Utilizes trends in healthcare; designs, implements and/or evaluates programs/ideas.
-Regularly participates in cost control activities through an organized system of planning and maintaining the utilization of resources.
-Demonstrates effectiveness in maintaining a well-organized operation to ensure efficiency and accuracy of the work and information flow.
-Organizes the departments to ensure that there is sufficient space, equipment and facilities for the performance of the volume of work with optimum accuracy, efficiency and safety. Recommends corrective changes as necessary.
-Organizes, directs and participates in the compilation and analysis of data concerning departmental services and activities. Submits reports as requested.
-Leads/ participates in hospital-wide quality initiatives.
-Reviews staffing and activity levels on daily basis.
-Conducts interviewing, hiring, counseling, disciplining and termination, as appropriate.
2. Promotes and maintains professional communication and collaborative relationships among physician specialties, nursing associates, all health care team members, other departments, patients and families within the community.
-Maintains collaborative working relationship with hospital departments and the community.
-Ensures that interdisciplinary performance improvement initiatives are in place.
-Utilizes interpersonal communication techniques, which encourage change for continued improvement.
-Incorporates interpersonal communication techniques to facilitate an opportunity for constructive feedback for the purpose of promoting professional excellence.
-Delegates tasks to associates commensurate with their abilities, workload, training and responsibilities.
-Organizes and directs regular meetings with the clinical managers of all radiology departments
-Effectively overcomes organizational blocks to achieve results.
3. Assures that designated departments are in compliance with all standards and regulations required by state and federal government agencies, utilizing patient safety principles and evidence-based practice.
-Oversees the integration of standards of nursing care and professional practice in the performance improvement process.
-Ensures that all departments meet The Joint Commission, DOH and CMS requirements.
-Monitors compliance by associates with professional, departmental and hospital policies and procedures, infection control practices, safety regulations and credentials.
-Models a commitment to patient satisfaction and holds associates accountable for adhering to patient satisfaction standards.
-Elicits customer satisfaction feedback, investigates complaints and takes appropriate actions within appropriate time frame.
-Implements customer satisfaction measures that provide quantitative measures.
-Always interacts with customers with courtesy, tact and diplomacy.
-Responds to customer requests in a timely manner and follows through on problem solving.
-Addresses patient satisfaction concerns with involved associates.
5. Actively and positively contributes to morale, teamwork and development of fully qualified and continuously improving associates.
-Demonstrates effective leadership and team building skills. Creates and maintains an environment of collegiality and collaborates with all members of the health care team.
-Conducts all aspects of administrative role in a fair, consistent and objective manner.
-Advises, guides and counsels clinical managers and associates on ways to improve efficiency, effectiveness and overall performance in an atmosphere that fosters innovation, the open exchange of ideas, quality, and associate participation as valued team members.
-Conducts fair, objective performance appraisals on Managers and Associates, utilizing peer input.
-Fosters retention and recruitment of qualified associates in all departments.
-Plans and conducts meetings with staff to encourage participation in formulating departmental policies and procedures, promote cohesion of the team, solve problems and interpret new policies and procedures.
-Facilitates associate participation in hospital-wide initiatives.
-Ensures confidentiality guidelines are adhered to by associates.
-Promotes professional growth and ensures that there are ongoing educational opportunities provided or available for associates.
-Maintains personal professional development and continuing education.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) credential preferred
Licensures & Certifications:
-Must be a graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) approved Radiography program and credentialed in good standing as a Registered Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), OR
-Must be a graduate of a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education and be credentialed in good standing as a member of the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), OR
-Must be a graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Nuclear Medicine (JRCNMT) and credentialed in good standing as a Nuclear Medicine Technology by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
Experience
10 years’ experience in Radiology required
5 years Management experience in Radiology/ Imaging required.
Other Skills
Working knowledge of computer technology systems, word processing skills
- Possible exposure to low level radiation, hazardous chemicals and infectious diseases.
- Travel required between Doylestown Health facilities.

Pay: $58.00 - $84.00 per hour
