Position Title: Homeless Guest Services Director
Reports To: COO
Department: Homeless Guest Services
Status: Full-time, Exempt
The Role:
- Provide leadership and guidance for the Homeless Guest Services Program of the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission (SBRM) in concert with the leadership of the COO and President.
- Engage, train, and empower a team of staff and volunteers to run the shelter operations.
- Strategize and plan for the future of the Homeless Guest Services Team considering the organization’s goals.
- Evaluate program initiatives using measurable data and make adjustments based on desired outcomes.
- Build collaborative partnerships with outside organizations as a representative of SBRM’s programs for people experiencing homelessness.

- Contribute to strategic planning sessions.
- Collaborate with the COO and President about the vision for homeless programs.
- Learn the organization’s culture.
- Collaborate with community partners about homelessness in our community.
- Mentor, coach, and provide additional training to Homeless Guest Services team.
Within 6 months you will...
- Further develop and direct Homeless Guest Services programs and initiatives.
- Communication the vision for the future with direct reports, leadership, and the Board.
- Pilot new programs or opportunities.
- Work closely with community partners to ensure that those experiencing homelessness in our community have access to the resources they need to stabilize and thrive.
Team Snapshot:
- Your department consists of 1 team manager, 2 case managers, and 3 emergency shelter staff.
- The leadership team consists of the President, COO, Men’s Program Director, Women’s Program Director, and Communications Director
- You will work alongside the Administration, Men’s Program, and Women’s Program teams.

Compensation and Benefits:
- $65,000 - $90,000 annually. The salary range posted reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this role.
- Company sponsored retirement plan with a 4% match.
- 15 vacation days, 12 holidays, and paid sick time.
- Employer sponsored health benefits (100% of employee premium and 30% of dependent premiums).
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and training. Master’s Degree in relevant field preferred.
- Background experience in social work, counseling, homeless services, rehabilitation, drug and alcohol recovery, or mental health treatment.
- Proven record of enabling others to act and do their best work.
- Experience in strategic planning and launching new programs.
- This position requires a variety of hours in which evening and weekend work will be involved.
