Summary
This role is responsible for supporting the direction and strategy for the Compensation function that is set by the VP of Total Rewards and for recommending & developing programs for all levels in support of those strategies. The Director must ensure that these programs align with business objectives, meet legal requirements, and achieve a balance between being externally competitive, meeting employee needs and managing internal cost constraints.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, direct and evaluate compensation policies, programs and initiatives that are internally equitable and externally competitive (base salary and incentive programs) including executive compensation
- Develops Compensation Committee materials and insures governance requirements are met
- Oversee the timely/regular collection of wage, salary and incentive survey data to ensure the organization’s programs remain competitive
- Plan and administer short and long-term incentive, merit and across-the-board programs
- Ensure compensation programs remain within company budgetary constraints
- Anticipate and plan for long-term compensation needs and trends in partnership with business management
- Oversee messaging to employees of compensation programs in order to promote clarity and reinforce overall total compensation value
- Oversee vendor/outsourcing relationships and assist with vendor selection
- Ensure compliance with all legal requirements of various compensation plans
- Interact with the legal department to ensure operational and design compliance with IRS rules and regulations
- Interact with the accounting and financial planning departments to ensure compliance with reporting requirements
- Oversee preparation and filing of all required legal reports including CD&A
- Provide strategic counsel on compensations issues to HRBPs and leaders
- Lead and coach the performance and development of professional staff
Required Qualifications for Position
- Bachelor's Degree required
- At least 7-10 years of increasingly responsible experience in compensation, including management, salary surveys and compensation programs
- Experience designing, selecting, and integrating wide-scale compensation programs
- Demonstrated successful experience and expertise in leadership coaching, strategy development, and workforce forecasting
- Experience developing and administering equity-based long-term incentive plans
- Previous experience with multi-million dollar budgetary responsibility
- Excellent written and oral communication/presentation skills
- Prior project management and vendor management experience required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated ability to take charge and get results
- Proven analytical skills
- Strong influence skills and demonstrated ability to be a thought leader
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities
