Salary Range: $43,329-$49,822.50
Job Overview: The Digital Content Specialist will provide for all platforms, digital and social media, strategic storytelling with a focus on creating engaging content in support of Museum initiatives and goals.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage content for the Museum’s social media channels (including, but not limited to Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn)
- Pitch and implement original, creative concepts for digital content and partnerships, including video, audio, and live streaming—with an eye to building audiences, engagement, attendance, and program participation
- Maintain and build relationships with social media influencers and other strategic partners to further the Museum’s reach
- Collaborate with Museum departments, partners, and stakeholders to develop channel-specific, timely, and compelling content with a storytelling focus
- Identify and develop human-interest stories, showing the impact WAM programs have on people, communities and cultures
- Arrange and conduct interviews, and photo and video shoots—at the Museum, virtually, or in the community, as needed and appropriate
- Produce high-quality photography, short- and long-form videos, live online events, etc., using a variety of creative suite tools; shoot video and edit occasional onsite programs, such as lectures
- Incorporate Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility values and priorities into social media and digital content whenever possible
- Adhere to the Museum’s social media framework, branding guidelines, and quality standards—appropriately maintaining brand voice across platforms to engage followers
- Keep abreast of social media and digital technology trends and changes; analyze new social media technologies and make recommendations for utilizing them to tell compelling Museum stories
- Meet regularly with managers of other WAM social media channels (i.e. Higgins, Studio Class Programs, Museum Shop) to strengthen general WAM influence and brand
- Track and summarize analytics for social media reach and engagement; make recommendations for adjusting strategies to performance, as appropriate
- Understand and obtain content and image rights and permissions; practice sound digital asset management
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in managing social media channels, including but not limited to Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook
- Video production background with fluency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro
- Ability to think creatively, with an enthusiastic approach to original and compelling visual storytelling
- Fluent in creative suite software, video production, and editing. Strong photography skills, including knowledge of camera, lighting, and sound equipment.
- Ability to incorporate brand aesthetic and cohesive “look and feel” when producing digital content
- Embraces and promotes Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Inclusion initiatives; sensibility and understanding of the need to incorporate DEAI into social media and digital content whenever possible
- Understanding of key metrics for tracking media and marketing effectiveness and can use insight to drive decisions
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; mastery of grammar and attention to detail
- A team player with a great attitude and excellent interpersonal skills; ability to interact with a variety of personalities diplomatically
- A self-starter who is excited to uncover new tools, opportunities, and behaviors to drive the Museum’s marketing thinking forward
- Significant attention to detail and excellent organization skills; ability to meet deadlines and solve problems
- Ability to deliver high quality content in fast-paced, flexible job environment and handle multiple tasks and details simultaneously
- Microsoft office suite, computer literacy; experience using HootSuite
- Interest in art and knowledge of art history
Education and Experience:
- BA preferred or equivalent experience in major related field, such as journalism, communications, marketing
- Two years related experience
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings or weekends, as needed
