I. TITLE: Dietary Aide

II. JOB SUMMARY:
To provide assistance to the cook in preparation and service of meals as well as functions as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team.

III. RESPONSIBLE TO: Food Services Director/Supervisor

IV. QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Personal:
1. Evidence of good grooming, appropriate manner and conduct.

2. Ability to work effectively with others;

3. Integrity, imagination, initiative, energy and evidence of self-improvement.

4. Recognition of civic responsibility.

5. Ability to communicate effectively in English.

6. Flexibility to meet the changing need of the situation.

7. Must be able to work independently.

B. Professional

1. Must be able to follow orders and properly perform the assigned tasks.

2. High school graduate is a plus.

C. Physical:
1. Evidence of good physical and mental health.

2. Physical appearance: Must present a pleasing image to residents and public and act as an example to employees.

V. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
A. A minimum of 4 hours per day, 5 days per week.

B. Must follow department dress/ appearance code.

C. Participates in orientation and in-services as required.

VI. FUNCTIONS:
A. Carries out the policies and directives issued by the Food Services Director.

B. Provides assistance to the cook in preparation and service of meals.

C. Supports and ensures that the objectives of Glenview Terrace guest relations philosophy are met.

D. Meets scheduled meal and snack times.

E. Follows cleaning schedule and performs cleaning duties as scheduled.

F. Wrap silverware, inspecting each piece to make sure it is clean.

G. Assists in arranging tray cards, serving meals, and loading food carts.

H. Assists in preparation and service of beverages, salad, vegetable, desserts, and bread.

I. Assist in any cleaning as needed, and must be able to comply with federal, state, and local regulations.

J. Wash pots, pans, and other cooking utensils when assigned.

K. Delivers food and coffee carts to the dining room.

L. Disassemble tray; scrape, wash and put away all dishes and silverware.

M. Assist in any cleaning as needed, and must be able to comply with federal, state, and local regulations.

N. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Food Services Director/Supervisor
