The Potomac Job Corps Center in Washington DC is seeking a part-time Dental Hygienist. The Dental Hygienist will be part of the general dentistry services group providing assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to the center’s students. Cobalt Health and Wellness is sponsoring this job posting.
COBALT is well established federal government approved health & wellness contractor with nation-wide operation and currently performing at the Phoenix Job Corps Center with over 25 years of government contracting experience.
Responsibilities:
1) Assessment and diagnosis, to include: cursory inspection within 48 hours by a
nurse, dental hygienist, or dental assistant for conditions needing immediate care. In
as much as cursory dental exams are done within 72 hours of arrival, the dental
hygienist is not responsible for this task.
2) Notification to the dentist immediately in case of emergency
3) Assist with oral disease prevention/education, to include
a) Oral prophylaxis (teeth cleaning)
b) Periodontal disease prevention and caries management through risk assessment
and education
c) Oral health promotion activities
d) An emphasis on employability
The general emphasis of the dental health and wellness program must be on
prevention, early detection, and identification of dental problems.
4) Providing a mandated oral examination and written diagnosis and treatment and
management plans, medication
5) Perform additional dental procedures in treatment plan to include restorations, root canal therapy, replacement of missing upper anterior teeth
6) Providing basic dental care and oral health education
7) Attend monthly conference calls, webinars
8) Documentation of treatment/referrals given to each student. This includes medication management. The maintenance, confidentiality, and safeguarding of all necessary dental records shall be assured.
9) Information exchange shall occur through regular case conferences with the
dental consultant, and other appropriate staff based on individual student needs.
