This position is responsible for the collection, processing, and delivery of incoming and outgoing mail and providing courier services to all hospitals, campus clinics, community clinics, and outlying facilities. This position includes the transport of medications within their scope of practice and according to State Law. This position is not responsible for providing care to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Sorts incoming campus and U.S. mail assuring that all items are set up for proper delivery.
  • Prepares outgoing mail for delivery to postal offices, including reviewing the items for proper postage.
  • Delivers and collects campus mail, including individual delivery for special, registered, and other types of controlled mail.
  • Loads and unloads courier vehicles with outgoing and incoming mail, medical supplies, and other commodities.
  • Drives courier vehicles to and from locations on established daily courier routes and for ad hoc "stat" runs to designated locations.
  • Fuels, cleans the interior and exterior, and maintains other ongoing, preventative maintenance on the courier vehicles.

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
  • Ability to prioritize and work under pressure deadlines.
  • Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required

  • Current, valid Utah driver's license.
  • Clean driving background as determined through screening.
  • Must pass the Utah State Vehicle Operator test every two (2) years.

Qualifications (Preferred)

Preferred

  • Prior experience in processing mail-related services.
  • Prior experience in courier services.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.

  • This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require light work involving lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects involving patient care or medical equipment. This position may stand for sustained periods of time and/or walk for long distances moving from one work site to another.
