Construction Materials Testing – Department Manager

The Dallas office of Giles Engineering is currently seeking a Department Manager for the Construction Materials Testing Department. The candidate must have the ability to provide services to existing clients and develop new clients while maintaining strong billability. The candidate will be responsible for field technicians in the soils and concrete laboratory, as well as field operations. The candidate must have experience estimating CMT projects, writing proposals, billing, and with client relations. Must have had comprehensive field experience within the realm of Construction and Materials Testing and Inspections.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the dispatch and scheduling of projects
• Communicate with clients
• Review daily reports on observed activities, providing clear documentation of findings
• Work with project personnel and clients to ensure that specifications are followed
• Ability to train field and laboratory staff
• Maintain a safe and professional practices Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects
• Maintain records and calibrations of laboratory and field equipment
• Billability of staff and department

Requirements:

• Good organization and response skills
• Attention to detail
• Understanding of construction
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and with others
• B.S. or higher
• Valid Driver’s license with good record
