Washington County is seeking a General Services Aide - Custodial Day Porter to provide essential janitorial services in support of the County's mission to provide excellent and cost-effective services that support healthy, peaceful, safe, and sustainable communities; and encourage meaningful participation in community activities and County governance. Washington County's Facilities and Parks Services is responsible for creating and maintaining nearly 40 County-owned buildings (over 1.3 million square feet) and associated grounds, as well as all county parks. Our team of over 70 employees takes their stewardship of county assets seriously and serves with pride.
The General Services Aide - Custodial Day Porter plans, organizes, and performs custodial and unskilled maintenance work under general supervision within Facilities and Parks Services. An employee of this class performs basic custodial work of a routine nature, often in the presence of building occupants. They will also assist journey-level staff with basic and recurring maintenance tasks. Duties may include, but are not limited to: performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of needs for repairs, and cleaning snow or debris from sidewalk. Successful candidates are expected to keep buildings in a clean and orderly condition, performing heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, removing rubbish and keeping building entrance sanitation stations stocked with hand sanitizer and face coverings for public use. This position may, on occasion need to work varying shifts as requested to escort contractor staff outside normal business hours.
Ideal Candidate: Facilities and Parks Services is looking for an energetic team player with a passion for public service, an eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and consistent attendance. Successful candidates will enjoy performing routine tasks and also be able to shift priorities to respond to urgent work requests with pride, professionalism, and a positive demeanor. On-the-job training will be provided for entry-level candidates.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; AND
- One (1) year of experience that includes driving a vehicle and performing related general labor duties in an office, retail, or warehouse setting.

This is a non-represented position and is not covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
Regular and limited duration full-time employees working 30 hours or more per week and job share employees are eligible for benefits beginning on the first of the month following employment. Job share employees are responsible for 50% of the premium. Part-time regular, variable hour, and temporary positions are not eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits.
