Older adults have unique, ever-changing needs. PACE Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly enriches the lives of older adults because of the comprehensive, integrated services we provide. Our goal is to help older adults maintain the highest level of independence possible.

This Culinarian is responsible for preparing and providing meals for all functions of RMHCS as directed by the Food Services Manager and Food Services Supervisor.

  • Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food handling practices
  • Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience
  • Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling or piercing with utensils
  • Weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment
  • Portion, arrange and garnish food and serve to patrons
  • Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters
  • Substitute or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods
  • Bake, roast, broil and steam meats, fish, vegetables and other foods
  • Wash, peel, cut and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare for consumption
  • Estimate expected food consumption
  • Carve and trim meats such as beef, veal, ham, pork and lamb for hot or cold service or for sandwiches
  • Butcher and dress animals, fowl or shellfish or cut and bone meat prior to cooking
  • Bake breads, rolls, cakes and pastries
  • Prepare relishes and hors doeuvres
  • Clean food preparation areas
  • Maintain sanitation, health and safety standards
  • Other duties as requested/assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • 1 year experience in food service industry
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interact clearly and effectively with both internal and external customers
  • Basic computer skills to include sending and receiving emails
  • Must have knowledge of large quantity meal preparation, menu planning and providing appropriate reports to the Head Chef
