Who You Are…

As Branch Controller, you will partner closely with branch operational and regional finance leadership in driving financial operations.

This Position…

Is tasked with assuming a lead role in formulating strategies regarding resourcing and managing financial operations, as well as safeguarding the Company s assets, in compliance with the organization s Code of Conduct and Ethics.

Some examples of the work you might do includes:

  • Manages a team of accountants to effectively and efficiently perform duties related to month end, SOX compliance, cash management, planning, and other financial responsibilities in alignment with standardized processes and procedures.
  • Ensures branch monthly/quarterly compliance with GAAP and SOX reporting compliance and testing standards.
  • Actively participates in monthly medium- to high-risk project reviews, and works with local branch operations and project teams to analyze project trends and inefficiencies, identify any risks, and help develop mitigation strategies.
  • Reviews weekly audit reports, and then works with branch leadership to understand issues, explanations, etc., and discusses findings with regional finance.
  • Assists in the annual planning and monthly forecasting process, while partnering with branch management to understand changes in the business, and communicates changes to regional finance.
  • Works with the Regional Director to assess risk as the first line review for branch upstream contracts.
  • Independently assesses risk on all non-standard downstream contracts, and communicates assessment to branch management and coordinates with Legal for resolution.
  • Provides strategic recommendations to local branch management regarding the implications of major financial decisions.
  • Maximizes billing, drives collections, creates branch cash forecasts, and manages opportunities to maximize branch cash performance.
  • Ensures the accuracy and integrity of operational and financial information reported to key stakeholders, and identifies significant drivers of financial information and ways to add additional EBIT by increasing GP and reducing SG&A.
  • Collaborates with peers across the Company to drive continuous improvement of best practices, and ensure that both near and long-term strategies are devised on a fully informed basis.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What You Need…

  • Bachelor s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required.
  • 5+ years of related experience, with at least three (3) in financial accounting/management required.
  • Well-rounded financial background, including experience with internal/external reporting, strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and interpreting financial data.
  • Functional knowledge of the Work In Progress (WIP) schedule.
  • Ability to leverage leadership skills to inspire and motivate in a performance-driven culture.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills, analytical ability, and attention to detail.
  • Capacity to successfully execute job tasks in a fast-paced environment under limited supervision.
  • Previous financial experience in the construction industry.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Viewpoint construction software experience preferred.
  • Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX 404) experience preferred.

Work Environment:

  • This position operates primarily in an office environment, and routinely utilizes standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copiers, plotters, and printers.

Physical Demands:

  • In performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, perform repetitive motion, and possess an appropriate degree of both visual acuity and manual dexterity.
  • This is considered a sedentary position, which means possible exertion up to ten (10) pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
