Construction Estimator

We are looking for experienced, motivated, hard-working and responsible Construction Estimators that want to become employee-owners. Summary:

This position is responsible for developing estimates and proposals for construction projects up to $10 million. The Estimator will work with the Project Manager to develop an accurate and timely estimate for Private, Federal and Public Works projects.

Essential Functions:

• Visit potential job sites to obtain the information needed to create an accurate estimate.
• Review and understand drawings, specifications, and project site conditions.
• Prepare “take-off” of the materials included in the job.
• Prepare supplementary scope of work for subcontractors and suppliers.
• Develop a detailed and accurate estimate of the work to be completed per drawings & specifications.
• Develop a summary project schedule.
• Prepare and submit RFI’s prior to bid.
• Receive, evaluate, and compile subcontractor and vendor proposals.
• Analyze alternative construction solutions to increase the competitiveness of the bid.
• Present estimate to senior management in bid reviews prior to final submittal.
• Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors to solicit competitive bids.
• Develop and maintain relationships with owners and architects to increase bid opportunities.
• Involved in buyout process with the Project Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years of experience estimating vertical commercial construction work.
• Must be able to understand drawings and be able to break down assemblies into individual tasks.
• Knowledge of terminology used in construction.
• Must be able to work on multiple estimates at the same time and be able to multi-task and prioritize tasks according to deadlines.
• Meticulous, thorough and detail oriented.
• Strong communicator, through phone, email and in person.
• Are very organized and a problem solver.
• Have above average Microsoft Office skills, especially Outlook and Excel.
• Sales and Marketing experience a plus.
