Description: Selected candidate will ensure adherence to Bank Secrecy Act and other regulatory requirements by routine review of customers using Enhanced Due Diligence procedures. The Compliance Associate will be responsible for transactional monitoring of accounts to identify and report emerging and evolving financial threats to accountholders and the bank. Will be cross-trained to provide assistance in other areas of compliance as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Performs Enhanced Due Diligence on high-risk customers.
- Reviews alerts from the transaction monitoring system and determines whether investigation is warranted.
- Conducts investigations of potentially suspicious activity and files SARs as needed.
- Examines bank policies, procedures and practices to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations through compliance monitoring.
- Remains current with the changes to state and federal banking laws and regulations affecting the management, operations, and product offerings of the bank.
- Assists in the design and implementation of internal monitoring programs, procedures, and processes.
- Performs research to aid in answering compliance-related questions on a daily basis from bank personnel.
- Completes required compliance training and other training as assigned.
- Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
- Creative thinker who is adaptable to changing regulatory landscape.
- Ability to write and edit reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, auditors and examiners.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to work in a team environment or independently, as well as the ability to work under stringent time constraints as required for specific tasks.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) and 10 key
Education and Experience:
- Prefer one to three years banking experience and/or significant college coursework in Business, Finance, Economics or Accounting. A combination of education and work experience may be acceptable.
